Frequently Asked Questions
Do you work with non-performing artists?
Yes. We work with all types of people and consistently help clients from a variety of backgrounds. We work best with individuals who are motivated to move and to work at improving their lives, and our practice welcomes anyone who wants to find a holistic approach to health and fitness.
How do I make appointments?
Appointments can be scheduled through our online booking site Jane. The link can be found here. If you cannot find an appointment at your ideal time or practitioner, you can join the waitlist directly on the booking site and you will be notified when a spot becomes available that matches your preferences.
All sessions are 1 hour and one-on-one, and most of our patients don't require many visits to see results. The goal is to get you as independent as possible, so most people are seen once a week or every other week and then quickly move on to once a month. We do offer 30min Quick/Emergency sessions.
Can I sign up for Physical Therapy without a prescription?
New York State allows patients to see a Physical Therapist without a prescription first. There are limitations, however. You can be treated for up to 10 visits or 30 days (whichever comes first) without a prescription, and then you legally need one from a physician. Your insurance may require a prescription to pay, though, so you need to check with your insurance as well. For Worker's Compensation, a prescription is required at all times. For Pilates and injury prevention, you do not need a prescription.
What should I expect in my appointment?
All sessions are 1 hour and one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. The goal of every session is to get you as independent as possible, so most people are seen once a week or every other week. Some are even seen only once a month. We offer 30min Quick/Emergency sessions as well. We do a lot of talking, coaching, and movement in sessions, so be prepared with comfortable clothing you can move in. For in person sessions, there may be manual work or cueing that involves touch, and we do our best to make everyone comfortable with lots of communication throughout. All sessions are personalized to you and your needs, so we will evaluate you on the first session and continue to make assessments within each session to make sure we're on the right track with you goals. Expect to be challenged and active throughout, regardless of what session you sign up for!
Do you take my health insurance?
We are out-of-network with all insurances, which means we charge a flat fee for services. Our rates currently are $250 per 1-hour session with a sliding scale to accommodate for different circumstances and to make quality health and wellness care more accessible. If you have out-of-network benefits with your insurance, they may cover some or all of your fees, depending on your plan. If you'd like to discuss more, we can do a free virtual consultation to get an idea of what the treatment plan could be for you based on your goals.
Do you take New York State Workers Compensation?
Every physical therapist in our clinic is able to work with NYS Workers Compensation patients. The rules for Workers Compensation are very specific, so evaluation and re-evaluations are a full 60-minutes and all follow up treatment sessions are 30 minutes. You will need your prescription and claim information (insurance company, case number, date of injury, and adjustor's contact info) before scheduling an appointment.
Do you offer discounts or special prices?
Yes. We have an Arts Worker discounted rate and run specials often throughout the year. We also offer packages of 8, 12, and 24 sessions so individuals can make a commitment to their program and save money. Since all standard sessions are 1 hour, you can use packages for any type of session. If you want to know if we have any special promotions or get more information about packages and the Arts Worker rate, please email us.
What is the difference between individual clients and company clients?
We cater to a variety of people and groups. Individual clients are seen privately for their own specific needs and goals. Company clients hire us to treat and prevent injuries for their employees and members. We often contract with theatrical productions, universities, conservatories, and other businesses in the arts. We keep these clients separate on the website because there are major differences in the goals and intentions of working with an individual vs working with a company.
You offer a lot of different options. Which one is right for me?
We do offer many different services here in order to meet the goals of each of our clients. If you have pain or dysfunctions that get in the way of you living your life, you should most likely sign up for Physical Therapy sessions. If you don't have pain, but want to focus on specific physical goals or stay out of pain, you may want to sign up for Pilates/Conditioning sessions. Injury Prevention Screens are great for someone starting a new workout, contract, or season so they can understand their body better and build a plan to stay strong and safe. If you're part of a company and you want to keep workers safe, strong, and moving well, you should sign up for a company consultation. If you still don't know where to start, the easiest session to sign up for is the Free Virtual Consultation where we can discuss all this and more!
